About Us

Our History

TECC offered its first workshops in the Champaign-Urbana area in 1976 to mental health professionals in public and private practice. Over the past 32 years TECC has offered 89 workshops for human service professionals in Central Illinois. The Committee offers workshops, presented by regionally and nationally recognized speakers, in one- and two-day formats.

Who runs TECC?

TECC is a nonprofit consortium of volunteers who have two commonalities: 1) they have an educational background, professional training, or experience in the fields of health, education, human services or related professions, and 2) they have a special commitment to and interest in enhancing training and staff development opportunities for colleagues. Committee members each contribute a unique combination of expertise, interest, and special skills. Together they plan and staff all workshops. Membership is by invitation.

Does TECC grant CEUs?

TECC offers Continuing Education Credits for licensed professionals with LSW, LCSW, LPC and LCPC status.

Who attends TECC workshops?

TECC workshops are attended by social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, psychiatrists, health professionals, educators and clergy. Different workshops appeal to different combinations of professional groups.

How are workshops financed?

Workshops are paid for by participants. Fees are set to cover costs and typically include lunch and breaks. TECC pays presenters and covers their expenses. Student rates are available.
